Property of unknown value destroyed in Gikomba morning inferno

Property of unknown value was Sunday morning destroyed by fire in Gikomba market despite heavy downpour witnessed in Nairobi.
This is the second fire in the Nairobi's biggest market this month and the fifth since September, 2021.
In pictures shared on social media and seen by People Daily Digital, traders were seen struggling to save some of their merchandise in the muddy market.

By the time of publishing this story, the cause of the inferno had not been established.
A Nairobi Court had earlier allowed Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) to evict traders from the open-air Gikomba market to allow for the expansion of a health centre.
