The position of the deputy governor of Nairobi became vacant on Tuesday after the swearing in of Kananu as the county boss to take over from Mike Sonko who was impeached last December.
People Daily has learnt that Jubilee-ODM team may settle on former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, who has been a vocal BBI proponent and co-secretary.
Others touted as likely to deputise Kananu are businesswoman Agnes Kagure, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and former National Intelligence Service (NIS) deputy director Sam Wakiaga.
Governor Kananu will appoint her deputy in accordance with the 2018 Supreme Court ruling.
She will then forward the name of the candidate to the Speaker of the Assembly who will form a committee to vet the candidate.
If the candidate is approved by the vetting committee, she or he will be sworn into office.
