Kenya County Governments Workers’ Union from Trans Nzoia has asked the Treasury to execute their Sh56 million court compensation awarded in year 2000

Union Chair Samuel Juma Kiboi said the beneficiaries of the award given by Justice Steward Matzayo of the Employment and Labor Court ( Now Senator ) continue to suffer in poverty.

Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale, Kiboi said it was wrong for the County to refuse to settle the Ksh. 56 million award.

"It is immoral to continue having the award to accrue even after the tribunal established under the law gave express orders for the execution. The County Governor who took over the workforce should not allow his officers to frustrate workers some of who have since died due to frustration’’, he said.

He said there was no question whether the County Government of Trans Nzoia ought to expedite the award issued against Kitale Municipal Council which was taken over by the County and its assets.

"Today as Kenya celebrates 57 years of Madaraka, families of the 104 workers, 33 whose retirement had reached and 8 who had died have nothing to celebrate. We are asking for the intervention of Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani’’, he said.
