Ulinzi started off the better side with good balance and discipline and after a good fight between the pair, the deadlock was broken by the lively Masuta in the 29th minute.
The game's tempo intensified and became physical as in a span of three minutes, Patillah Omotto and Elvis Nandwa of Sharks and Ulinzi Stars respectively got booked.
However, 10 minutes later, Omondi gave Ulinzi a cushion with the second goal after some interplay by the 2010 League Champions.
In Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega Homeboyz ran riot with a convincing 4-0 thumping of relegation-threatened Western Stima.
Within 20 minutes, Homeboyz had already scored three quickfire goals through Stephen Opoku in the third minute, George Odiwuor in the 10th minute and David Okoth in the 16th minute as the visitors under Abdalla Juma were wiped aside with ease.
After the first half, the power men had plans to contain the marauding opponents and do damage limitation but nothing worked and 23 minutes after the restart, Stephen Wakhanya found the net to complete Stima’s misery.
Homeboyz coached by Nicholas Muyoti are now tied on 23 points with Wazito albeit with one game more played while the fast falling Stima are on 12 points off 17 matches.
At Ruaraka Stadium, all eyes were on AFC Leopards who were expected to beat Poster Rangers but the clash ended goalless.
This means that the 12-time Champions are tied on second position with 33 points; two off leaders Tusker who on Friday went goalless as well with Wazito.
