Last year’s winners Nichodemus Kipkirui and Joan Chelimo will also be back for another shot at the title.
Athletics Kenya Nyanza South chairman Peter Angwenyi says preparations for the race are at an advanced stage and over 500 athletes are expected.
“We are hoping for a good turnout. This marathon has grown over the years and has given local athletes a platform to discover their talent,” said Angwenyi.
“The marathon has produced international athletes like Wesley Ochoro, Ruth Bosibori, Grace Momanyi, Edwin Mokua among others. This is why we take pride in associating ourselves with this event and hope to see more athletes being discovered,” added Angwenyi.
Winners will walk away with Sh100,000 while Sh50,000 and Sh30,000 go to second and third-place finishers.
