Elachi dramatically returns to City Hall

Embattled Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi dramatically returned to City Hall on Wednesday morning flanked by a section of ODM MCAs.
Addressing a press conference shortly after gaining access to her office, Elachi accused Jubilee Party leadership for her dramatic ouster in September 2018.
"The party leadership manipulated everyone including Governor Mike Sonko. We have come here to say enough is enough," physically agitated Elachi said.

Elachi promised to bring 'sanity' to the House which she accused of 'abusing' women.
"We cannot accept some cartels to use MCAs to abuse women. I am telling them that the assembly will go back to rules and regulations. Rule number one, I am pleading with the embassies, do not allow any Nairobi MCA to travel out of he country without the signature of the Speaker," said Elachi.
On September 10 last year, dramatic scenes played out after some MCAs evicted her from her office.
Elachi was forced to use a special pepper spray to scare away her attackers.
The eviction was, however, thwarted by some officials that prevailed upon the furious MCAs after hours of chaos that saw Elachi temporarily seek refugee in her office toilets.
Majority leader Abdi Guyo led some MCAs in evicting Elachi from office following a botched attempt to block her access to the Assembly on the same day.
