Crisis as teachers fail Grade 4 tests

Teachers are supposed to know everything (we so assumed this for long!) but a recent World Bank report revealed nearly half of teachers who sit primary education training courses fail the final examinations.
The damning report Facing Forward: Schooling for Learning in Africa, indicated that teachers performed underwhelmingly in Mathematics (Mazimatic?) and English.
The study reported that simple tasks such as adding double-digit numbers and subtracting double digits was a hard nut to crack for the custodians of knowledge expected to be the leading light for young trainees.
