City Stars, Bidco, Stima win their NSL matches
Bigwigs in the National Super League (NSL) continued with their solid run in the second tier Friday in different venues across the country.
Nairobi City Stars, Bidco United and Nairobi Stima who are prime chasers for the title all picked important points with the former two winning away from home.
At Camp Toyoyo, the double-header on offer provided good fodder for fans with exciting but equally tough football. City Stars are now on 35 points after seeing off FC Talanta 1-0.
Ebrimah Sanneh’s lone goal after 74 minutes courtesy of a penalty was enough for Sanjin Alagic’s men at the end. The slum boys are in cruise mode after picking their 11th win of the campaign.
In the later match at the same venue, visiting Bidco United who are third on the log with 28 points beat hosts Ushuru 2-0 courtesy of a brace by young rising star Eric Kahonge.
David Orem and Jacob Onyango supplied the neat assists to both goals in the 12th and 72nd minute respectively as the taxmen were caught napping in decisive moments.
This was an anti-climax for James Omondi and new Technical Director Abdallah Salim following their 4-0 whitewash last weekend over Talanta.
Second-placed Nairobi Stima continued their renaissance with a 2-1 win over struggling Administration Police at Karuturi to move to 29 points.
It was an evenly contested fixture with lots of chances which went begging however Coach Leonard Odipo expressed happiness with the result. “Overall a tight game but we are happy to have collected full points,” he told People Sport.
In another matches, fourth placed Vihiga United beat Coast Stima 2-0 away at Mbaraki Grounds while Mt. Kenya United moved three points to ninth after a 1-0 win over visitors Modern Coast Rangers.
Elsewhere Fortune Sacco thrashed lowly St Joseph’s Youth 3-0 at Kianyaga Stadium while surprise package Migori Youth were forced to a 2-2 draw by Muranga Seal at Awendo Stadium.
