Absa Kenya has come in big in a bid to aid the forthcoming Magical Kenya Open and  Kenya Savannah Classic Golf tournaments that tees off tomorrow at Karen Golf Club.

The banker has unveiled a Sh30 million sponsorship package for the two week events to elaborate its quest for visible success and players motivated in the premium events set for viewing by millions globally.

Speaking during the sponsorship event at Muthaiga Golf Club yesterday, ABSA Kenya Managing Director and CEO Jeremy Awori praised the growth traction of the premium tournament.

“This is our 13th year in supporting this event and we are obviously happy to be back again.

We have found a way to work with the European Tour and a lot of our sponsorship money will go to our local professionals.

These two events will also stimulate sports tourism in the country especially in the future.

It might be different since we do not have fans allowed but it is important for precaution measures” Awori said.

He added: “As a brand, we are often moved by stories of resilience in Kenya and I am sure we will get a great two weeks of high level golf.

We want to help players achieve targets and also in a larger sense it makes us improve on private partnership with sports.”

Tournament Director Patrick Obath on his part lauded the sponsorship as timely.
