97 Rift Valley leaders support BBI report

Some 97 Rift valley Members of Parliament and Senators have thrown their weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report saying that it opines huge opportunities for transformative agenda for the people especially through devolution.
Speaking at the Lake Naivasha Resort on Friday, the leaders in a joint statement read by Kajiado MP Katoo Ole Metito said they are prepared for any process that will be taken to implement the proposals contained in the report.

"We are saying bring it on. We are prepared for it whether it be taken to the people through referendum or be brought to the parliament for deliberations," he said.
Metito said the region has enormous challenges ranging from insecurity, poor agriculture sector and social development.
"We came as leaders to ensure that we rally efforts towards the agenda four of the government," he added.
Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri who is also the chair of MPs from Nakuru county said the meeting brought together all the leaders across political and ethnic divide in the region and urged for more engagements of the same to ensure that pertinent issues affecting the region is handled in a more vibrant manner.
Key among the leaders present at the meeting were Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Chief whip and Nakuru senator Susan Kihika, Senator Samson Cherargei, Emurua Dikir MP(KANU) Johana Ngeno and Chepalungu Mp Gideon Kosgei Sonko (CCM) among others.
