1.7 million foreign tourists visit Senegal in 2019

Senegalese Minister of Tourism and Air Transport Alioune Sarr announced recently that Senegal welcomed 1.7 million foreign visitors in 2019, of which French citizens represent 7.5 percent.

According to him, Senegalese government plans to raise its capacity to welcome 5 million foreign visitors yearly between 2023 and 2025. 

However, most tourists mainly come from Europe between December and February to enjoy the beach and sunshine in the tropical savanna climate.

The Casamance region in southern Senegal sees most foreign visitors.
